Most cloud advice has a side
Most of the parties advising on a cloud estate are paid more when the client spends more. Vendors and resellers earn on what you buy. Managed service providers typically price as a percentage of the spend they manage, an incentive that points away from shrinking it. Nobody in that chain is rewarded for saying “buy nothing”.
Cloudreason was built to sit outside that chain. We resell nothing, we hold no partnership that pays us on your consumption, and we price every engagement in fees. Reducing your bill never costs us anything, so every recommendation can be judged on one question only: whether it's right for you.
What that means in practice
Nothing to resell
We take no commission, kickbacks or referral fees from AWS, Microsoft or Google, and we hold no reseller margins. One hundred per cent of our revenue comes from client fees, so a bigger cloud bill never benefits us. The alternative is advice from someone paid more when you spend more.
Free to say “buy nothing”
When a client asked us to approve roughly £1 million of storage hardware, our advice was not to buy it. We designed an alternative they run themselves at a fraction of the cost. Advice like that is only possible when your revenue doesn't depend on the purchase going ahead.

We encourage every client to hold their vendor relationships directly, in their own name. No lock-in to us and no estate held hostage: if we stopped working together tomorrow, everything we built and optimised would still be entirely yours.
Judge it by the results
Independence is easy to claim and hard to fake over ten years of engagements. The clearest evidence is in the work: estates re-architected to cost a fraction of what they did, commitments planned around clients' needs rather than vendor targets, and purchases we advised against because the client didn't need them.
